Senior Data Scientist
Job Description
Danology is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for financial services, focused on building and deploying credit risk, fraud detection, and customer analytics models. This hybrid role is based in Greenville, SC and includes end-to-end ownership of client engagements, collaboration with technical teams, and mentorship of junior data scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead data science delivery on client engagements, from initial scoping through final delivery.
- Manage typically 1–2 engagements at a time.
- Build, validate, and deploy credit risk models, including probability-of-default, loss forecasting, and scorecard development.
- Build, validate, and deploy fraud detection models, including transaction monitoring and near-real-time anomaly detection.
- Build, validate, and deploy customer analytics models, including segmentation, churn, and next-best-offer modeling.
- Translate ambiguous business needs into clear modeling problem statements and communicate modeling tradeoffs to clients.
- Produce documentation suitable for model risk management review, including SR 11-7 or similar requirements.
- Present results to client executives and to technical teams.
- Mentor 2–3 junior data scientists through code reviews and methodology discussions.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of data science experience, including 2–3 years working with financial services data.
- Strong Python skills (pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost/LightGBM) and SQL; R is a plus.
- Experience deploying models on AWS or Azure.
- Working knowledge of credit products and relevant regulations (for example, fair lending and model governance).
- Ability to work directly with clients and lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

- Compensation: USD 115,000–125,000 per year
