Job Description

The Health Data Analyst II role supports 1199SEIU Family of Funds by strengthening how health-related data is stored, processed, reported, and validated. This hybrid position in New York, NY focuses on building reliable database foundations, producing accurate reporting, and helping teams move through project implementations and system enhancements.

At a glance, the role includes developing data entry and reporting processes, translating business needs into queries and charts, and troubleshooting reporting issues with internal teams and external vendors. You will also audit reports from both internal and external systems to ensure content accuracy and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and maintain databases.
  • Develop and implement processes for data entry, data formatting, and report archiving.
  • Translate business requirements into data queries, report generations, and charts.
  • Generate and manage reports, perform data analysis to identify trends, and provide recommendations.
  • Support management with development and testing of project implementations and system enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve reporting-related issues, including reporting logs, document Imaging, and letter generation.
  • Communicate with internal departments and external vendors to identify and resolve issues.
  • Audit reports from internal and external systems for accuracy of content and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist management with process improvement tools and staff training, and support staff by resolving escalated issues.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Health Care Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing relational databases, including database management and data analysis.
  • Experience writing system specifications, with expert knowledge of relational database concepts such as queries, tables, forms, and reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in report generation and data analysis, including the ability to identify anomalies, trends, and provide recommendations.
  • Intermediate SAS (Statistical Analysis System) skill level, including ability to create, manipulate, and maintain queries for scheduled and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Products skill level (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), with excellent working knowledge of database tables, forms, queries, and reports.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in the Health Care industry, with knowledge of Care Management, Medical, or Hospital claims business operations.

Salary and Location

  • Location: New York, NY (hybrid)
  • Salary: USD 66,400 - 83,000 per year
