IT Knowledge & Training Data Scientist, Employee Experience & Productivity, IS&T
Job Description
This role in Sunnyvale, CA (onsite) supports Apple’s IS&T Knowledge & Training group by creating analytical assets that measure training and knowledge resource effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with knowledge and training leaders to understand needs, convert business questions into data problems, and provide evidence-based recommendations
- Extract, clean, transform, and validate data from multiple learning and content systems, including training platforms, content management systems, and web analytics
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau, using them to identify trends, surface anomalies, and communicate insights to stakeholders
- Run deep-dive analyses on training effectiveness and content performance data to answer questions not covered by existing dashboards, delivering results as slides or annotated visualizations
- Use AI to accelerate insight generation (summarization, classification) while validating outputs for accuracy and reliability
- Create and maintain well-documented, reproducible analytical workflows, including clean SQL and organized code in GitHub so others can understand and extend work
- Monitor data quality across knowledge and training data sources, flagging issues early and partnering with data engineering to resolve them
Requirements
- Working knowledge of how data supports content strategy, curriculum design, and self-service enablement
- Working knowledge of clickstream data and web analytics for content performance and user engagement measurement
- Proficiency with version control and collaborative documentation practices using tools like GitHub
- Knowledge of statistical modeling, including hypothesis testing, regression, and foundational causal inference methods
- Track record of applying AI to real-world data analytics and productivity challenges
- Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, adjusting depth and format
- Comfort with ambiguity, including defining an analytical approach when the business question is loosely framed
- Proven ability to build trust with leaders across diverse functional areas
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative or business field, such as statistics, data science, economics, operations research, applied mathematics, natural sciences, or an MBA with analytics concentration)
- Experience: 3+ years working with learning and development data (training platforms, content performance metrics, or learner engagement data)
- Experience: 3+ years hands-on writing SQL to extract, transform, and analyze data from large multi-source datasets
- Experience: 3+ years building dashboards and visualizations in Tableau, Looker, or equivalent
- Experience: 3+ years using Python or R for data manipulation and analysis
- Experience: 3+ years delivering analytical work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and multiple stakeholders
- Alternative education/experience: Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related quantitative field, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience

- Base pay range: USD 144,600 - 218,000 per year
