Lead Data Engineer, Analytics & Insights

Agtonomy is seeking a senior data engineering leader for an onsite role in South San Francisco, CA. The Lead Data Engineer, Analytics & Insights will own the analytics data layer, metrics, and dashboards, translating telemetry from machines into trustworthy insights for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders while upholding rigorous data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate the analytics data layer, including a ClickHouse backed warehouse that powers operational, business, and autonomy reliability metrics, in collaboration with the Platform ingestion team.
• Partner with operations, product, engineering, and finance to define meaningful metrics, turning complex questions into measurable results such as autonomy uptime, intervention rates and classifications, release-to-release reliability, mission success, fleet utilization, and customer ROI.
• Develop customer facing data experiences by building React dashboards within web and mobile analytics portals, in partnership with the Applications & Connected Services team.
• Create internal decision support tools by building Grafana boards, custom React dashboards, and self service tooling that enable teams to answer questions and identify issues early.
• Maintain data accuracy by establishing data quality, validation, lineage, and documentation so every number is defensible and explainable.
• Share ownership of data contracts with the Platform and Cloud software teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building production data systems, with substantive work in both data modeling and analytics delivery.
• Proven experience shipping analytics UIs in React; comfortable owning the user surface of dashboards in a production web app.
• Strong SQL skills with well formed opinions on modeling time-series and event data; ClickHouse experience is a strong plus, with transferable experience in OLAP systems such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Druid, or Pinot.
• Comfort working alongside a platform team that governs data ingestion; track record of collaborating with pipeline teams to ensure access to high quality data.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (Go, Rust, TypeScript, or C++).
• Familiarity with semantic layers and tooling such as dbt, Cube, or MetricFlow.
• A proven history of converting raw telemetry into metrics that non-technical stakeholders actually use and trust, turning broad ideas into actionable analytics.
• High standards for data quality; demonstrated accountability when customer facing numbers were incorrect and the ability to implement preventative safeguards.

Compensation

Salary: USD 160,000 – 210,000 per year
