BMW offers a hybrid Machine Learning Engineer role in Mountain View, CA with a competitive annual salary between USD 162,031 and 224,937. The position centers on exploring and building AI driven solutions using ML, Generative AI, and Large Language Models, developing prototypes and PoCs, collaborating with internal and external teams, and contributing to BMW's AI strategy and intellectual property. Responsibilities
- Identify and scope AI driven solutions that leverage cutting edge technologies like ML, Generative AI, and Large Language Models.
- Build prototypes, PoCs, and new functionalities to demonstrate feasibility and value of AI applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to research, design, and evaluate AI solutions that enhance BMW's in-vehicle and mobility experiences.
- Support the protection of fundamental Intellectual Property Rights relevant to future BMW products and services.
- Share findings with the international research community to shape BMW’s global AI strategy and guide future research directions.
- Survey emerging technologies and integrate advanced AI techniques into prototype systems and future architectures.
- Provide insights that support strategic decision-making, helping stakeholders understand AI technologies and influence R&D and Centers of Competence.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in electronics, computer science or a related field.
- Proficiency in AI oriented programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangFlow, Kotlin or equivalent).
- Comfort presenting and defending technical solutions to internal and external teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to break down complex problems into manageable parts.
- Experience in building and running Cloud Applications (MLOps).
- At least one year of relevant professional experience in the tech industry or a related field.
