Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate/Data Scientist in Cancer Epidemiology Research
Job Description
A full-time postdoctoral research fellowship is available to advance cancer epidemiology research through genomic methods and risk modeling.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to study design, project implementation, project management, data analysis, and manuscript preparation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers across the University of Maryland School of Medicine and with national and international academic partners
- Use genomic methods and analytical approaches to integrate existing datasets with genomic and phenotypic data
- Develop and refine risk prediction models for complex diseases and traits
- Analyze complex genomic datasets and support statistical modeling for cancer, oncogenic viral infections, and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
- Develop and manage a database and coordinate study and research projects
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and perform systematic reviews
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal publication
- Support protocol development, study design and implementation, supervision of junior researchers, presentations at national and international conferences, and grant writing
Requirements
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Proficiency in one or more statistical or programming platforms: R, Python, SAS, or Stata
- Experience working with complex datasets and epidemiologic analyses
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Interdisciplinary mindset and commitment to collaborative research
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills
