Job Description

Golden Gate University seeks a PT Data Analyst to support institutional research with business analytics, focusing on gathering, analyzing, and validating data that informs reporting and strategic decisions. This is a part-time, remote role at a rate of USD 25 per hour.

Role Overview

The Data Analyst position is a support role for institutional research across institutional reporting, business analytics, and data gathering, analysis, and validation. The primary responsibility is to deliver accurate, impactful analytic reporting that helps identify actionable next steps and guides tactics and strategy at the university. The role requires the ability to interpret complex objectives, goals, and measurement frameworks to ensure correct data reporting.

Department and Reporting

  • Position Title: PT Data Analyst
  • Department: Business Analytics
  • Reports To: Assistant Vice Provost of Institutional Reporting and Effectiveness
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Working Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and historical data on students, staff, enrollment, retention, and graduation.
  • Develop enrollment, retention, and graduation dashboards for Executive Leadership, deans, program directors, faculty, and other staff.
  • Support federal, state, and other institutional reporting.
  • Validate data reports and correct potential statistical inconsistencies.
  • Assist with predictive modeling and additional ad-hoc data analysis projects.

Essential Functions

The PT Data Analyst will perform the core duties of institutional research support, including institutional reporting, business analytics, and the gathering, analyzing, and validating of data. The role is designed to ensure analytic reporting is both accurate and useful for decision-making across the university.

Required Qualifications

  • Python proficiency, including Pandas, for analyzing, validating, and categorizing datasets that may contain redundancies and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to programmatically validate data reporting results and flag potential statistical inconsistencies.
  • Experience with MS Excel, including pivot tables, built-in functions, and charting.
  • Experience using Tableau to build visualized and interactive reporting dashboards.
  • Ability to write and interpret complex SQL for data retrieval.
  • Ability to abstract information requirements from real-world data requests.
  • Knowledge of using PowerPoint and Word to create data reports.
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities, and work efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in data analysis.
