Senior Agentic AI Engineer

This is a Senior Agentic AI Engineering role with Cognizant, remote within the USA, focused on delivering production-grade conversational and agentic AI capabilities on AWS. The position involves hands-on engineering, solution design, and collaboration with QA/UAT to support client requirements, with an emphasis on Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development team across onshore and offshore groups.
• Provide hands-on development, design, and architecture aligned to client requirements.
• Support the QA and UAT teams to validate delivered capabilities against requirements.

Requirements

Conversational AI & Agentic AI Platforms (MUST)

• Experience with AWS Lex or another deterministic bot approach.
• Hands-on experience using AWS Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore.
• Working knowledge of the AWS Strands SDK / Framework.
• Experience developing voice bots and chat bots.
• Agentic AI application development and orchestration experience.
• Knowledge of intent modeling, conversation design, prompt engineering, and NLU concepts.
• LLM application development skills, including tool calling, function calling, and agent workflows.
• Strong hands-on cloud and infrastructure experience with AWS services, including: Amazon Bedrock, Bedrock AgentCore, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Knowledge of secure AI/LLM deployment patterns and cloud-native agent architectures (plus).

Generative AI & Agent Engineering (MUST)

• Hands-on experience building production-grade generative AI applications using Amazon Bedrock.
• Experience developing and orchestrating AI agents using Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Strands.
• Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks, tool integrations, and multi-agent workflows.
• Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures (optional).
• Experience with prompt engineering, model evaluation, grounding, and agent performance tuning.
• Experience securing enterprise AI agents, including guardrails, prompt injection mitigation, data protection, access controls, and responsible AI controls.
• Experience optimizing LLM agents for accuracy, latency, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting production AI agents and conversational AI systems.
• Experience with conversational analytics, agent evaluation frameworks, and bot performance optimization (MUST).
• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Engineer, or equivalent.
• Experience with multi-agent systems and advanced agent orchestration patterns.
• Use of AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar development accelerators (one tool is required).

Salary and Application Details

• Location: Minneapolis, MN (remote)
• Salary: USD 100,000 - 130,000 per year, depending on experience and other qualifications.
• Incentive: Eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to plan terms.
