Job Description

Cognizant is hiring a Senior Agentic AI Engineer to lead the development of conversational and agentic AI solutions across onshore and offshore teams. This remote role is open to qualified applicants in Minneapolis, MN, with a focus on building and operating agent experiences on AWS Bedrock using Bedrock AgentCore.

In this position, you will work hands-on with design and architecture based on client requirements, while partnering with QA and UAT to support testing and readiness for production delivery. The work includes agent orchestration, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting for AI systems that run reliably at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a development team across onshore and offshore delivery.
  • Hands-on development, design, and architecture aligned to client requirements.
  • Support the QA and UAT teams.

Requirements

  • Experience with AWS Lex or any other deterministic bot approach.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore.
  • Experience with AWS Strands SDK / Framework.
  • Voice bot and chat bot development experience.
  • Agentic AI application development and orchestration.
  • Intent modeling, conversation design, prompt engineering, and NLU concepts.
  • LLM application development including tool calling, function calling, and agent workflows.
  • Production-grade Generative AI application development using Amazon Bedrock.
  • Developing and orchestrating AI agents using Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Strands.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks, tool integrations, and multi-agent workflows.
  • Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures (optional).
  • Prompt engineering, model evaluation, grounding, and agent performance tuning.
  • Enterprise AI security experience including guardrails, prompt injection mitigation, data protection, access controls, and responsible AI controls.
  • Optimization experience for accuracy, latency, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot production AI agents and conversational AI systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services: Amazon Bedrock, Bedrock AgentCore, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of secure AI/LLM deployment patterns and cloud-native agent architectures (a plus).

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with multi-agent systems and advanced agent orchestration patterns.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar accelerators (one tool is required).
  • Experience with conversational analytics, agent evaluation frameworks, and bot performance optimization (required).
  • Experience implementing Responsible AI, AI governance, compliance, and enterprise AI security controls.

Work Model

  • Remote position open to qualified applicants in Minneapolis, MN.

Salary and Other Compensation

  • Annual salary: $90,000–$100,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to performance and the terms of applicable plans.
