Senior AI Engineer

Join CCC Intelligent Solutions Inc. in Chicago to help build AI-native, agent-based capabilities for the auto casualty business (injury side of auto claims). This role spans the full path from prototype to measured production performance, with an emphasis on responsible delivery, evaluation rigor, and production engineering that supports complex documents and sensitive claim data.

What you’ll work on

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will design and deliver LLM-powered agents end to end, with ownership across orchestration, retrieval, evaluations, guardrails, and production code. The goal is to ship agents that perform reliably with complex documents and real claim data, backed by measurement and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build LLM-powered agents and workflows including orchestration, tool use, retrieval, structured extraction, and human-in-the-loop review
• Build and maintain evaluations with data labelers and subject matter experts, and run them on every change
• Make agents production-grade with guardrails, observability, and careful management of cost and latency, including handling sensitive health data

Requirements

• Typically 5+ years of professional software or ML engineering experience, including meaningful recent work with LLMs
• Strong Python production engineering skills, including API services; comfort working with TypeScript
• At least 1 year shipping LLM-powered products to real users, including retrieval (RAG, embeddings, vector search) and prompt engineering
• Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems, with a habit of measuring before and after changes
• Quantitative mindset: comfort with metrics, sampling, and error analysis, and knowing when results are real
• Practical experience shipping faster using AI-assisted or agentic engineering tools, with examples you can discuss

• Within the first month: ship a measured improvement to an existing agent
• By six months: have an agent you built in production with customers, supported by evaluation results

• Experience fine-tuning LLMs or working with multimodal data
