Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Applied AI (Financial Services)

Capital One is hiring a Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Applied AI (Financial Services) to help advance Generative AI capabilities for customer-focused use cases. In this onsite role in Plano, TX, you will work with cross-functional teams to build and deploy advanced RAG and Multi-Agent systems over large volumes of numeric and textual data.

You will drive Generative AI model development across the full lifecycle, from context engineering through fine-tuning, evaluation, validation, and deployment. Along the way, you will translate technical decisions into clear business goals and partner closely with product and engineering stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver Generative AI solutions customers love.
• Build Multi-Agent systems and advanced RAG pipelines using a broad technology stack, including Python, PyTorch, LangChain, AWS, Spark, and Vector Databases, operating over vast volumes of numeric and textual data.
• Develop Generative AI models and pipelines through all development phases, including context engineering, fine-tuning, evaluation, validation, and deployment.
• Use interpersonal skills to communicate the complexity of your work and connect it to tangible business goals.

Required Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining (with the expectation the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date):
• • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) plus 2 years of experience performing data analytics; or

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a “STEM” field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or PhD in a “STEM” field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• At least 2 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R
• At least 2 years of experience with machine learning
• At least 2 years of experience with SQL
• At least 1 year of experience in AI, Information Retrieval, Deep Learning, or NLP

Compensation and Benefits

For the Plano, TX location, the annual salary range for this role is USD 123,300 - 140,700. Performance-based incentive compensation may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
