Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Credit Line Increase Program
Job Description
Senior Associate Data Scientist role focused on building, deploying, and governing machine learning valuations models for Discover Customer Management programs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a cross-functional group of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver analytics-driven customer experiences
- Use a broad technology stack, including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more, to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data
- Develop machine learning models across the full lifecycle: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
- Translate model complexity into tangible business goals using strong communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining (with degree expected on or before the scheduled start date):
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) and 2 years of experience performing data analytics
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining (with degree expected on or before the scheduled start date):
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related), or an MBA with a quantitative concentration
Team Description
- Model development team building valuations models for Discover Customer Management programs
- Near-term focus: support Discover integration by fully owning valuations covering model development, deployment, and governance
- Longer-term scope: expand model capabilities and methodologies, monitor performance, and manage ongoing stakeholder needs
- Partner with the credit program to define model design for destination usage and enable business policies backed by valuations

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or PhD in a STEM field
- Experience working with AWS
- At least 2 years experience with Python, Scala, or R
- At least 2 years experience with machine learning
- At least 2 years experience with SQL

- Salary: USD 135,600 - 154,800 per yearly
