Senior Data Engineer
Job Description
Musco Sports Lighting is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for its Information Technology team in the Oskaloosa, IA office. In this role, you will help design and implement enterprise data platforms and semantic/ontology models that support analytics, AI, and LLM-driven use cases, with a strong focus on data quality, governance, and scalable delivery.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement enterprise semantic and ontology models that enable advanced analytics, AI, and LLM-driven solutions.
- Set up and maintain enterprise data quality and validation frameworks to identify, monitor, and communicate data integrity issues so data remains trusted and reliable across the organization.
- Work with business and technology stakeholders to shape data pipelines and solutions aligned to evolving business needs and strategic objectives.
- Architect scalable data engineering patterns and optimize for performance, scalability, observability, and long-term maintainability across data warehouses and lake houses.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD processes, deployment standards, and engineering best practices that support dependable delivery of semantic models and data solutions.
- Integrate data lineage, metadata management, and observability into data solutions to improve transparency, traceability, and operational effectiveness.
- Support enterprise data governance, security, and compliance by implementing data access controls, including Row Level Security (RLS), and promoting adherence to organizational standards.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to strengthen engineering practices and build data modeling and analytics engineering capability.
What you bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and data architectures.
- Experience building cloud-based data integration and analytics solutions using modern data engineering technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of data architecture, modeling, integration, and engineering principles, with the ability to deliver scalable, maintainable, high-performing data solutions supporting analytics and AI initiatives.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex data and technology challenges.
- Ability to promote data quality, governance, security, and privacy best practices to ensure trusted, compliant, well-managed data assets.
- Experience providing technical leadership through knowledge sharing and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and take ownership in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Ability to create, maintain, and share clear technical documentation that supports operational effectiveness, sustainability, and knowledge transfer.
- Strong interpersonal skills, innovative problem-solving, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus.
