Job Description

DataAnnotation is seeking a Senior Data Scientist - AI Trainer to support the training and evaluation of AI models focused on quantitative reasoning. This fully remote, hourly contract role involves reviewing AI-generated quantitative work and creating new quantitative problems for training and benchmarking.

Role Summary

In this position, you will evaluate AI outputs that involve statistical analysis, predictive modeling, scientific reasoning, and data-driven insights. You will also design and solve quantitative questions used to train and benchmark AI systems across multiple domains, while contributing clear technical explanations and well-documented analytical code.

Responsibilities

  • Assess AI-generated quantitative work for technical accuracy and real-world validity, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, scientific reasoning, and data-driven insights.
  • Develop and solve quantitative problems for training and benchmarking AI systems, such as forecasting, experimental analysis, optimization, and statistical inference.
  • Produce clear technical explanations and maintain well-documented analytical code.
  • Deliver feedback that informs the next iteration of AI models built to reason with quantitative data and analytics.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a quantitative role or research environment, such as data science, statistics, economics, finance, physics, biology, epidemiology, operations research, or a closely related field.
  • Some coding experience, with comfort writing and reviewing analytical code end-to-end.
  • Practical experience with statistical methods, predictive modeling, and experiment design, including examples such as A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression, classification, and time-series forecasting.
  • Strong English proficiency (native or bilingual) with demonstrated writing skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field is preferred (Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar); a Master’s or PhD is a plus.
  • Relevant credentials are a plus, for example Kaggle Competition ranking and/or AWS/GCP ML certifications (or equivalent evidence of expertise).

  • Compensation: USD 50 to 100 per hour (hourly pay)
  • Schedule: flexible schedule, with project-based selection
