Job Description

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support Internal Audit decision-making through audit-focused data products, automation, and AI-enabled solutions. In this onsite role based in the Pensacola, FL area, you will contribute to analytics that span the audit lifecycle while reinforcing data governance, data quality, and responsible AI practices.

Role overview

You will develop and improve data products and analytical capabilities used by Internal Audit teams, including models, dashboards, pipelines, and automation. The work includes building agentic AI and workflow automation solutions to drive efficiencies across audit activities, as well as supporting automated control testing and continuous monitoring initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance data products, data pipelines, analytical models, dashboards, and automation solutions for Internal Audit analytics and decision-making
  • Design, build, and enhance agentic AI and workflow automation solutions using AI technologies to improve audit process efficiency
  • Partner with auditors, business stakeholders, and technology teams to understand requirements and translate business challenges into scalable analytical solutions
  • Support automated control testing, population-based analytics, and audit automation initiatives, including continuous monitoring
  • Apply modeling and trend analysis to analyze data and provide actionable insights
  • Use data to produce charts, tables, or other formats that support effective decision-making
  • Maintain alignment with best practices and ethical AI practices
  • Build working relationships with team members and subject matter experts
  • Lead small projects and initiatives
  • Use written and verbal communication to document and present analysis findings to diverse stakeholder audiences

Required qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in exploratory data analysis
  • Basic understanding of business and operating environment
  • Strong foundation in statistics
  • Programming and technical skills across data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics
  • Experience with SQL and at least one of: R, Python, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala
  • Model lifecycle execution experience
  • Technical writing, data storytelling, and technical presentation skills
  • Research, interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, collaboration, initiative with sound judgment, and problem-solving
  • Working knowledge of procedures, instructions, and validation techniques
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar quantitative fields

Desired qualifications

  • Master’s/PhD Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
  • Experience with Alteryx, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Azure AI Foundry
  • Experience using Python and related data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Scikit-learn (or similar) for data analysis, automation, and model development
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI (or similar visualization tools)
  • Experience managing end-to-end product and solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, UAT, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality controls, data lineage, and data management best practices
  • Experience working within audit, risk management, compliance, or financial services
  • Experience working in Agile product development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated curiosity and an innovation mindset, including identifying opportunities to automate manual processes

Compensation: USD 99,400 - 155,850 per yearly.
