Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Motion Recruitment is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for a Boston-based hybrid team. In this hands-on role, you will help shape scalable AI platforms and advanced agent-based systems, with an emphasis on production-ready autonomous workflows and LLM and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities for enterprise products.
Working within a cross-functional engineering environment, you will design and evolve machine learning services and platform components that support reliable, secure AI in production.
What you’ll do
- Operate in a highly hands-on engineering capacity across AI and ML development
- Create, productionize, and maintain sophisticated AI and ML capabilities for enterprise research applications
- Architect and enhance distributed machine learning services and scalable platform components
- Build agentic applications, semantic retrieval pipelines, and orchestration frameworks that support them
- Collaborate with software, platform, and security teams to deliver AI systems that are dependable, secure, and high-performing
Skills and qualifications
- Deep knowledge of machine learning systems and autonomous agent design
- Hands-on experience building LLM applications and retrieval-augmented generation solutions
- Practical experience with vector search technologies and vector data stores
- Familiarity with production ML operations, including monitoring and deployment practices
- Strong Python development skills
- Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes environments

Education and experience
- Minimum experience: 8 years
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related discipline
- Preferred background: experience delivering software for legal technology, compliance, financial services, or another regulated domain
- Preferred experience: at least 12 years of software engineering experience, or 8 or more years combined with a PhD
