Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Automation for Translation and Multilingual Intelligence

Apple’s AI/ML Translation and Multilingual Intelligence team is focused on improving how machine learning systems are trained, tested, and delivered for translation and related language tasks. In this Senior Machine Learning Engineer role, you’ll work on scalable model automation pipelines and the tooling that supports efficient training, evaluation, and deployment.

This onsite position is based in Cupertino, CA and is designed for experienced engineers who can connect ML lifecycle workflows with production-oriented automation and ML CI/CD.

What you’ll do

• Build automation pipelines and tools to support training, evaluation, and deployment of machine learning models for machine translation and related NLP tasks
• Implement and optimize ML pipelines with a focus on distributed data processing, training, inference throughput, and overall efficiency
• Work with software engineers and QE to integrate ML models into production systems

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of experience across the ML lifecycle, including model management, data processing, large distributed systems, and cloud computing (examples include Spark, Ray, and Dask)
• Strong Python coding skills and experience with ML infrastructure tooling such as vLLM, SGLang, TRT-llm, Slime, or Megatron-LM
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Pay and eligibility notes

• The base pay range is $150,400 to $277,600 per year, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
• Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards.
