Sr Data Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Harbor Freight Tools USA, Inc. is looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to design and support the infrastructure that turns large volumes of business data into enterprise reporting and analytics. This remote role (Calabasas, CA) helps drive clearer visibility into performance by building BI reports, dashboards, and analytics architectures that strengthen key performance indicators.
In this position, you will analyze big datasets to uncover patterns that inform customer insight and performance improvements, while partnering with business stakeholders and leadership to ensure the right data and metrics are collected and evaluated. You will also develop self-service BI capabilities so business partners can explore information and share discoveries across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large data sets and extract patterns that support greater customer insight, optimized performance, enhanced engagement, improved retention, increased revenue, and decreased cost.
- Collaborate with business partners and management teams to ensure appropriate data and metrics are collected and analyzed to drive improvements in processes and profit.
- Partner with executives and leadership teams to form hypotheses and design research aimed at improving key performance indicators.
- Design architecture and data integrity constraints with data infrastructure engineers to align the data collection pipeline and analytics infrastructure to business needs.
- Identify BI requirements, then design, create, deploy, and support self-service BI reports and cubes to enable discovery and information-sharing.
- Design, develop, implement, manage, and monitor Business Intelligence dashboards.
- Use expertise in data modeling, ETL architecture, and report design for departmental initiatives, and produce detailed documentation including data flow diagrams, logical diagrams, and physical diagrams as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
- Masters of Science in Business or Advanced Certifications preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in technology, analytics, or Business Intelligence.
- Experience designing, developing, deploying, and enhancing high-visibility computer programs, analytics, dashboards, and reports.
- Adept at rapid prototyping and deployment of stable, maintainable BI solutions.
- Hands-on experience with data-related programming and other high-level languages preferred.
- Strong knowledge of distributed computing, data warehouse, data mining, business analytics, and software development.
- Significant experience with modern data analytics infrastructure, including MS SQL Server (SSIS/SSRS), Tableau, SPSS, TM1, Netezza, Oracle, OBIEE, Financials, and related tools.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, analysis, replication, and distributed/relational data and database mapping.
- Significant experience working with very large data sets and performing product- and business-level analysis.
- Hands-on experience with SQL query language, data warehouse, RDBMS, and common BI tools and techniques.
- Strong computer science, statistics, and mathematics background.
- Analytical thinker who can analyze and understand data to answer questions.
- Ability to take on responsibility, collaborate, and excel in a fast-paced environment with a small team.
- Must be able to perform the job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering health or safety.
- General office environment: ability to sit for long periods and move about an office.
