Position: Principal Data Scientist. Location: Manhattan Beach, CA onsite (Roy, UT also listed). Salary: USD 108,200 to 162,400 per year. Education: PhD. Minimum experience: 3 years. This role requires active DoD Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of professionals dedicated to the work.
- Engage with teams across the entire program to understand analytics and data modeling needs.
- Help architect and build data pipelines connected to multiple program ASoTs.
- Apply data engineering practices to manage infrastructure, storage, and data transformation for scalable analytics.
- Develop and publish Tableau server dashboards and visualizations used by program stakeholders.
- Apply advanced data science approaches to develop analytical solutions that provide program insights.
- Work within an agile framework oriented toward stakeholder outcomes.
- Recommend process changes to business leaders to improve efficiency.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines from authoritative data sources needed for metrics and analytics.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 3 years of experience with a master’s degree
- A PhD is required
- 4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
- Active DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period
- Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries
- Experience managing and maintaining SQL databases
- Experience defining and tracking KPIs and metrics related to business and engineering analytics
- Expertise in developing and managing ETL processes
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis, manipulation, and automation
- Proficient with Git or similar version control systems
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
