Job Description

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an AI and Machine Learning Engineer I Graduate to support the creation of AI/ML products and data-driven solutions. Based in San Jose, CA, this is an onsite role focused on turning business needs into technical work across data ingestion, pipeline development, and machine learning and statistical modeling.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to spot data-driven opportunities and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ingest and integrate data from structured and unstructured enterprise systems, including Databricks and IT data platforms.
  • Design and build curated data models and analytical layers for reporting and downstream analytics.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines using SQL, Python, and orchestration tools.
  • Clean, transform, and prepare datasets so they can be consumed reliably across the business.
  • Support data quality and observability across pipelines, workflows, and storage layers.
  • Integrate new data sources, APIs, and event streams into the platform.
  • Create clear data documentation and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay current with modern data engineering tools, cloud technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Master’s degree is desirable.
  • Typically 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Highly beneficial: knowledge of AI/ML libraries and frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Crucial: strong foundations in statistics, probability, linear algebra, calculus, and optimization for building and evaluating models.
  • Essential understanding of machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, neural networks, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing.
  • Experience with large datasets, data pre-processing, data cleaning, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Required: SQL and database experience, plus familiarity with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib or Tableau.

USD 92,700 - 187,800 per year.
