Job Description

Spatial Data Logic is seeking an AI Engineer to guide the delivery of AI powered software across GovPilot, SDL, and Hedgerow. The role focuses on building features driven by autonomous AI workflows while implementing safety guardrails and shaping the development lifecycle for our platforms’ future. This is a remote position that offers substantial independence and close collaboration with engineering leadership to chart long term objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ship features across the GovPilot, SDL, and Hedgerow codebases, adapting to new languages and frameworks as needed.
  • Design and implement systems and workflows that enable AI agents to operate at scale without compromising safety or quality.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your email, calendar, and tasks without a fixed step-by-step plan.
  • Propose and pilot innovative working approaches that extend beyond traditional agile or sprint models.
  • Establish guardrails, evaluations, and review processes so AI generated work can be trusted and deployed rapidly.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to define the development lifecycle a year from now and begin building toward it today.

Requirements

  • Hands-on, daily experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalents, not as occasional assistance.
  • Comfort moving across programming languages and stacks without needing extended ramp-up time.
  • A track record of working with minimal oversight, setting priorities and following through.
  • Strong judgment about what can be trusted to run autonomously and the ability to build effective guardrails around it.
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI changes software development, embracing it as a new way of working beyond pure productivity gains.
  • Residence in and authorization to work in the United States.

Technologies

  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • Copilot

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Flexible hours and remote work
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional development budget
  • Home office and IT budget
  • Real autonomy and high impact work

What makes you stand out

  • Experience designing or operating agentic workflows in production, not just prototypes
  • A history of building or proposing new team processes, beyond simply following existing ones
  • Experience across both legacy and modern systems
  • A public track record (blog, open source, talks) demonstrating thoughtful consideration of AI engineering

How to apply

If you have been actively exploring agentic AI workflows in your own time and want to help a team implement this approach in practice, please send us your resume.
