Job Description
Systek, Inc. is seeking an AI Engineer - AI/ML SME to deliver SETA support to government teams in Hanover, MD. The role focuses on technical review, evaluation, and guidance for AI-enabled applications and tools.

Role Summary
Provide subject matter expertise to support the development or assessment of AI-enabled applications and tools for mission use cases. Support includes architecture and risk review, evaluation of AI solution patterns, and technical recommendations for engineering teams and government stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing architectures, development approaches, model usage patterns, and technical risk areas.
- Monitor rapid changes in the AI ecosystem and provide recommendations on emerging tools and practices.
- Evaluate solutions that involve LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, agentic workflows, orchestration layers, and prompt pipelines.
- Advise on AI engineering considerations including latency, reliability, observability, testability, guardrails, and data flow.
- Assess and compare modern AI frameworks, agentic libraries, and experimentation harnesses for suitability in mission contexts.
- Support test and evaluation activities for AI tools, including performance assessment, qualitative review, and workflow validation.
- Contribute to the development of technical guidance, prototypes, engineering recommendations, and briefings for government stakeholders.
- Collaborate with platform engineers, product leads, mission users, and government leadership to keep AI efforts technically grounded and operationally relevant.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or computer science.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering supporting DoD programs.
- 5 years of AI experience in a commercial setting may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications
