AI Engineer II

Deloitte is hiring an AI Engineer II for the HC Forward team to design, build, and operate governed data and feature layers that power Human Capital AI and GenAI products.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Lead AI Solutions Architect and AI Data Engineer to convert Human Capital product needs into secure, scalable designs and delivered solutions.
• Deliver application programming interfaces (APIs), services, pipelines, and containers/serverless solutions that meet availability, performance, and security expectations.
• Build and operationalize LLM-enabled experiences including copilots, HR knowledge assistants, summarization, and policy question-and-answer workflows.
• Use Claude/GPT(Codex)/Gemini to implement secure endpoints, tool/function calling, and reusable prompt and context patterns.
• Implement LLM application patterns such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), document ingestion and chunking, embeddings, vector and hybrid search, and retrieval evaluation telemetry.
• Provide governed datasets plus feature engineering and serving for ML training and real-time inference.
• Support online and offline consistency, caching, latency service-level objectives (SLOs), and backfills.
• Operationalize data quality and lineage and enable secure consumption patterns for predictive ML and LLM-based experiences.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science).
• Experience: 2+ years building and delivering LLM and GenAI solutions with Claude/GPT(Codex)/Gemini-class models, including prompt/context design, tool/function calling, evaluation, and production integration.
• Experience: 2+ years implementing RAG/retrieval, including document processing, embeddings, vector/hybrid search, and enterprise governance controls.
• Experience: 2+ years in data and AI engineering, including data modeling, batch/streaming pipelines, structured/unstructured processing, and feature engineering/serving fundamentals.
• Experience: 2+ years building production real-time inference services, including API design, latency/performance, and reliability patterns.
• Experience: 2+ years leading platform/integration engineering across enterprise systems, including REST, GraphQL, event-driven capabilities, microservices, and middleware.
• Experience: 2+ years DevOps and DevSecOps experience, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker/Kubernetes, and observability.
• Experience: 2+ years leading security and compliance efforts, including IAM, encryption, secrets, audit logging, and data/privacy controls for PII, retention, and access controls.
• Ability to travel 0-25% on average.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Location and Salary

• Location: Seattle, WA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 91,100 - 179,500 per year

Preferred

• Master’s or doctoral degree and/or cloud and AI/ML certifications.
• 2+ years of experience with Human Capital platforms and integrations, including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, Salesforce, and HR data domains.
• 2+ years operationalizing LLMOps and MLOps, including evaluation, monitoring, governance workflows, and model/prompt/version management.
• 2+ years cloud experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP, including managed data platforms and compute patterns.
• 2+ years translating business needs into documented requirements, acceptance criteria, and shippable increments using structured problem solving.
• 2+ years documenting and communicating AI/GenAI trade-offs involving quality, latency, cost, and risk to stakeholders.
• 2+ years collaborating across product, data science/machine learning, data engineering, platform, and security functions.
• 2+ years performing threat testing, monitoring, and operational-readiness responsibilities.
• 2+ years applying ethics and privacy practices to recognize consent, PII, and bias boundaries and escalate concerns.
• Experience with SOC 2, GDPR, or HIPAA.
