Job Description

FanDuel is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join the Sports Modeling and Innovation team onsite in Jersey City, NJ. The role centers on designing, building, maintaining, and refining data models, datasets, and visualizations while bridging data engineering with data scientists and business stakeholders. The position offers a salary range of USD 116,000 to 152,250 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of analytics or data engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and enhance data models, datasets, and visualizations used by data scientists to drive business performance decisions.
  • Bridge data assets and the Data Engineering team to data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to derive actionable insights.
  • Develop pipelines for fast data ingestion into well-structured databases (SQL, Delta Lakes, etc.), including real time scenarios.
  • Maintain validation pipelines to flag bad or missing data and iterate on these pipelines when new databases are created.
  • Manage existing data transformation jobs for the Sports Modeling and Innovation team, optimize code across codebases, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Automate data cleaning projects on large datasets as part of database management efforts.
  • Balance memory and speed tradeoffs to optimize project outcomes, reduce query times, and remove unnecessary metrics.
  • Create and own a backlog of prioritized Tableau dashboards and R Shiny app enhancements.
  • A curiosity about AI and emerging technologies is a plus.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in an analytics or data engineering role.
  • At least two years maintaining databases with a focus on improving data ingestion pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of relational databases.
  • Proficient in SQL, Databricks, R/Python, Tableau, AWS S3, and command line interfaces.
  • Experience building data pipelines using Python or R and Databricks is highly advantageous.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a numerate field (Math, Statistics, Economics, etc.) or relevant data analysis experience.
  • Strong personal organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience collaborating on team projects.
