Job Description
The Assistant Data Scientist position supports computational and scientific work for proton therapy and radiation physics within Radiation Physics - Research at UT MD Anderson. The role involves software development, data analysis, and contributions to treatment-planning technologies under direct supervision.

Compensation
- Hourly salary range (40-hour work week): $32.93/hour to $49.28/hour
- Midpoint: $41.11/hour
- Annual salary range (minimum): USD 68,500
- Midpoint annual salary: USD 85,500
- Annual salary maximum: USD 102,500
Responsibilities
- Assist with analyzing data-related problems, including formalisms, algorithms, and software applications
- Contribute to the development of complex proton therapy algorithms under direct supervision
- Support programming activities across multiple systems and technical environments
- Participate in software implementation efforts for proton dose computations and treatment planning
- Contribute to analysis activities that support the development of formalisms, algorithms, and software
- Assist with complex applications involving dose computations
- Support Monte Carlo techniques used in radiation physics applications
- Participate in treatment planning studies utilizing developed computational systems
- Contribute to image processing, measurements, and data analysis related to proton therapy
- Develop software tools under direction to address specific operational and scientific challenges
- Maintain computational infrastructure supporting treatment planning and dose computation activities
- Assist with implementation of new software solutions for measurements and image processing
- Support ongoing enhancements to computational systems and technical workflows
- Participate in proton therapy research and treatment planning activities
- Support software maintenance and optimization efforts
- Collaborate with technical and scientific teams to resolve computational challenges
- Assist with analysis and validation of computational methods and results
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field
