Associate Data Analyst - Fee For Service Program

The State of New Mexico’s Fee For Service Program supports Medicaid claim handling and policy guidance across the Fee for Service Unit (FFS). As an Associate Data Analyst (onsite in Santa Fe, NM), you will help keep suspended Medicaid claims moving, maintain accurate claim notes for tracking and audit needs, and use report analysis to identify and resolve system and program issues.

What you’ll do

You will review and process suspended Medicaid claims, updating claim notes so records remain current for tracking and audit purposes. Your work will include analyzing reports to spot patterns and issues that affect suspended claims and locations.

• Update claim notes for tracking and audit requirements
• Identify system issues and submit memos to support fixes
• Review and analyze reports
• Conduct research and provide analysis on complex issues affecting suspended claims and locations
• Clarify, develop, and implement Medicaid policies for current and new programs within the Fee for Service Unit
• Update internal guides and workflows, including policy review, guidance, and revisions
• Support meetings and coordinate as needed with internal teams
• Address and resolve complex Medicaid issues by collaborating with other Medicaid bureaus, divisions, and/or agencies

Who you’ll work with

Your work connects directly with Medicaid clients, providers, the Health Care Authority (HCA), and other agency staff and managers. In this role, collaboration across bureaus and agencies is part of how policy and operational guidance gets clarified and implemented.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six (6) months of experience directly related to the position in areas such as research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis, or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency
• Any combination of related accredited college or university education and/or direct experience in the occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience
• Valid Driver’s License that must be maintained
• Ability to obtain a Defensive Driving certification

Working conditions

This is an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone use, including extended periods of sitting. The role requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. Some in-state travel will be required.

Compensation: USD 27 - 41 per hour.

Collective bargaining: This is a bargaining unit position. All terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement apply and must be adhered to.
