The Data Analyst Specialist role with Santa Fe County, onsite in Santa Fe, NM, centers on data analytics, reporting systems, and delivering data-driven insights, reports, and analyses to support the Assessor's Office strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with annual processes such as Notice of Value, Personal Property Renditions, Real Property roll, Mobile Home roll/releases, Livestock roll, Business Personal Property roll, and reporting duties including Property Tax Division audits/evaluations, certifications, abstract generation, daily audit logs, Marshall and Swift databases, and maintenance of the Assessor Estimated Tax Calculator.
- Analyze data and generate reports from systems such as ProVal, Ascend, SidWell, Just Appraised, Mobile Assessment, Microsoft SQL, APPX Document Manager, APPX Workflow, ArcGIS for mapping duties, SunGard Land, SunGard Tax, and Manatron/Ascend.
- Ensure alignment with the Assessor's technology goals and fulfill technical requirements.
- Contribute to testing and validation of Marshall Valuation cost tables using statistical methods within a mass appraisal environment, and adjust as needed.
- Provide data and technical support to Chief Appraisers and appraisal staff.
- Assist in reviewing the accuracy and equity of values through sales ratio studies to evaluate performance for in-house and State Property Tax Division evaluations.
- Handle data requests under the Inspection of Public Records Act IPRA related to the Santa Fe County Assessor's Office.
- Create, develop, and organize standard and ad hoc queries from appraisal data.
- Utilize assessment data to conceptualize, research, design, develop, and deliver complex reports and analyses supporting the Assessor's Office strategic objectives.
- Support diverse analyses and reporting services, including advanced statistical and quantitative analyses, with results presented in written reports, oral presentations, and graphical displays.
- Develop business applications to enable comprehensive data analytics.
- Participate in a cross-organizational end-user support team responsible for maintaining production systems, including developing triage processes for production issues.
- Ensure compliance with County policies, procedures, requirements, and applicable legal regulations.
- Develop, test, and generate reports across multiple systems and deliver results to clients.
- May perform regression analyses to provide expected data ranges.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation
Hourly rate: USD 28 - 32 per hour.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of real estate concepts and principles, property valuations and appraisals, arithmetic and geometric computations, economic principles, county ordinances and codes, and proficiency with basic office equipment including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Knowledge of real and personal property appraisal principles, including mass appraisal.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective oral and written communication; ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records of inspections and work activities.
- Ability to handle confidential material in a trustworthy manner.

Working Conditions
The role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing. It uses manual dexterity and visual acuity to complete tasks, with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
Work is normally performed in a professional office environment with a moderate noise level and may involve extended periods under stress. Evening, holiday, and weekend work outside of normal hours may be required, along with travel and meetings.
