Job Description
The Business Intelligence & SQL Data Engineer role at American Pain Consortium is based onsite in Carmel, IN, delivering Power BI, SQL Server, and enterprise data warehouse leadership.
Responsibilities
- Create, enhance, and sustain organization-wide Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Architect and tune SQL Server databases for performance and reliability.
- Build advanced T-SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines.
- Develop and maintain dimensional models using star schemas and manage Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
- Monitor and optimize indexing strategies, execution plans, and overall query performance.
- Assist data integration across EMR, scheduling, and billing systems to align datasets.
- Ensure backup integrity, disaster recovery readiness, and data availability.
- Support data integrations and migrations during acquisitions.
- Establish naming conventions, documentation standards, and change governance.
- Ensure data integrity through validation and reconciliation processes.
- Monitor data quality and address discrepancies.
- Collaborate with leadership to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Maintain SQL Server virtual machines in coordination with IT infrastructure.
- Assist with performance planning, storage growth forecasting, and patch coordination.
- Work with the CIO and executive leadership on analytics strategy.
- Develop standardized dashboards to support operational and financial reporting needs.
- Build and manage semantic models and DAX measures.
- Improve report performance and refresh reliability.
- Maintain Power BI gateways, authentication, and scheduled refresh processes.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations to deliver AR, revenue cycle, KPI, and acquisition reporting.
- Support self-service reporting initiatives and uphold data governance standards.
Requirements

- Strong documentation and organizational capabilities.
- Capability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
- Three to seven-plus years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proficiency in T-SQL (joins, CTEs, stored procedures, performance tuning).
- Three or more years of Power BI experience (DAX, semantic models, dataflows).
- Experience designing star schemas or dimensional models.
- Experience supporting production SQL environments.
- Healthcare or financial reporting experience preferred.
