Job Description

Join Rendr as a Compliance Data Scientist in New York, NY (onsite). In this role, you will build analytics that help the compliance department identify risk, strengthen regulatory adherence, and support early detection of fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicaid program. You will turn complex healthcare data into dashboards, predictive models, and board-ready narratives that teams can act on.

Compensation: USD 110,000 - 135,000 per year. Minimum experience: 5 years. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical models to identify and mitigate compliance risks in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract, analyze, and validate data from multiple sources and prioritize business needs.
  • Develop departmental dashboards, reports, and visualizations to monitor compliance metrics and trends.
  • Use machine learning and predictive modeling to identify and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse within the Medicaid program.
  • Apply detection methods including pattern recognition and outlier analysis to proactively find suspicious patterns and irregularities.
  • Enhance analytics across multiple data sources, including electronic medical record (EMR), Compliance, Billing, and Clinical.
  • Perform routine proactive analyses to detect suspicious patterns and irregularities across all data sets.
  • Conduct outlier analysis by identifying data points that are impossible or significantly deviate from expected trends.
  • Create predictive models by developing machine-learning algorithms to forecast trends.
  • Continuously monitor analytics results and issues, including trend analysis tied to recurring issues or policy violations.
  • Analyze data from internal and external sources to support compliance risk identification, benchmarking, data visualization, and data reconciliation.
  • Design and deliver reports and visual narratives aligned with Compliance initiatives, including presentations to the Board of Directors and stakeholders.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of healthcare-related work experience in reporting and analytics, including data extraction, manipulation, statistical modeling, and data visualization.
  • Proven experience in advanced analytics, data visualization, data modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of compliance regulations and risk management.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Power BI, plus experience with analytics, machine learning, data visualization, data reconciliation, and data management.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel, including creating pivot tables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex insights to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Federal and NYS Regulations.

Helpful background

  • Previous compliance-related experience (for example: corporate compliance, OIG, NYS OMIG, Health plan SIUs).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance regulations and best practices.
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), highly preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems and healthcare data, including patient records and claims data.
  • Experience designing and preparing reports for the Compliance Committee and/or Board of Directors.
  • Familiarity with Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA), and regulators and guidance including CMS, DEA, FDA, OCR, and HIPAA.
