Data Analyst
Job Description
The World Bank Group is hiring a Data Analyst for a 3-year local recruitment contract role in Washington, DC, United States (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify data needs, reporting gaps, and opportunities to improve budget analytics and client service delivery.
- Extract, clean, validate, and organize structured and unstructured datasets from relevant WBP systems and data sources.
- Ensure datasets meet expectations for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Perform exploratory data analysis and create clear summaries, visualizations, dashboards, and recurring reports.
- Use tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R to support reporting and analysis.
- Support development, testing, and documentation of predictive models, reporting tools, mobile applications, and AI-enabled solutions under direction from senior colleagues.
- Maintain and update standard reports, dashboards, datasets, and model outputs.
- Escalate data quality issues and support routine validation and troubleshooting.
- Help business users through user testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing so they can interpret reports and apply insights in daily decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, business analytics, or a related field, plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- Working proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or R, including practical experience preparing datasets and supporting analytical or reporting products.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, data visualization, and dashboard development, applied to defined business questions.
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to produce clear reports, dashboards, and visual summaries for business users.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to data quality, documentation, testing, and timely delivery of recurring analytical outputs.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences and collaborate with business and technical teams.
- Experience in financial planning, reporting, budget analytics, performance management, or work within large or complex organizations is an advantage.
