Job Description
Education Analytics is looking for a Data Analyst II with a business analysis focus to help connect partner and user needs to data, analytics, and technical solutions. In this onsite role in Madison, WI, you will translate questions into clear data definitions and analytic requirements while supporting delivery of reporting, dashboards, and data products.
You will collaborate across education partners, analysts, engineers, and other technical teams throughout the analytic lifecycle, from early discovery to final delivery.
Responsibilities
- Partner with education stakeholders and technical teams throughout the analytics process.
- Depending on project needs, conduct partner discovery.
- Define and document analytic requirements.
- Map source data to reporting concepts.
- Investigate data quality.
- Develop technical specifications.
- Mock up reports or dashboards.
- Support projects from initial problem definition through delivery.
Requirements
- Experience converting broad or ambiguous requests into clear questions, data definitions, analytic requirements, and technical specifications, and communicating across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience investigating complex data sources, assessing data quality, and determining how data should be mapped, combined, transformed, and interpreted for reporting and analytics.
- Working proficiency with SQL, including the ability to write, interpret, and debug complex queries in a cloud data warehouse environment such as Snowflake.
- Familiarity with education data standards such as Ed-Fi, or the ability to learn and apply complex data standards, definitions, and reporting rules.
- Experience with business intelligence, reporting, or data visualization tools, including mockup work; Apache Superset and Figma experience is preferred.
- Experience using a statistical programming language to investigate, process, or validate data, with R or Python preferred.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.
- Comfort working in an evolving technical environment, including adopting new tools such as AI-assisted technologies to improve efficiency and analytical quality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including prioritizing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with limited direction.

Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Systems, Public Policy, Education, or a related field.
- At least one year of relevant professional experience, including progressively independent work with data, analytics, technical requirements, or data products.
- Familiarity with K–12 education data, state or district reporting, or education data standards is helpful but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $72,000–$84,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
- EA may consider placement at Data Analyst I or Senior Data Analyst level, with compensation adjusted accordingly.
- 401(k): 12% non-elective contribution each payroll once eligible per plan rules.
- 401(k): Up to a 3% salary deferral match each payroll by EA once eligible and contributing, per plan rules.
- Vacation: 26.5 days paid vacation annually (accrued at 17.67 hours per month).
- Sick time: 40 hours paid sick time provided on date of hire plus 8 hours accrued monthly.
- Holidays: 9 paid holidays, including EA-designated holidays or the option to swap holidays.
- Insurance: 85% of health insurance premium paid by EA; 50% of dental premiums paid by EA.
- Paid parental leave: after one year of employment and if eligibility requirements are met.
