Job Description

Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance Company is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to design, build, and govern analytics-ready data assets across the property and casualty value chain. The role collaborates with stakeholders from Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Distribution to deliver trusted reporting and analytics while advancing a Snowflake-based medallion architecture that supports data-driven decision making. This remote opportunity offers a salary range of USD 140,891 to 171,631 per year and requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience along with a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Distribution to gather requirements, establish KPIs, determine reporting needs, and define data specifications.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Sigma, Power BI, or equivalent BI platforms to deliver trusted insights for underwriters, actuaries, claims leaders, distribution partners, and executives.
  • Translate business needs into scalable data solutions, dashboards, and analyses that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support recurring and ad hoc reporting, including financial, operational, and executive reporting.
  • Design, build, and maintain data models, transformations, and semantic layers within a Snowflake-based medallion architecture.
  • Develop scalable, testable data pipelines using SQL and dbt or equivalent tools.
  • Integrate data from internal and external sources such as policy systems, Salesforce, and HubSpot.
  • Enable self-service analytics by designing semantic layers and certified data products that empower business users to answer questions without engineering intervention.
  • Define and enforce data governance standards, including data definitions, access controls, and metadata management.
  • Validate and test data outputs to ensure accuracy and reliability, monitor data performance, and continually improve data products based on user feedback.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and participate in Agile ceremonies, including planning, refinement, and sprint reviews.
  • Define acceptance criteria and deliver high-quality data products while providing production support and troubleshooting data/reporting issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in the P&C insurance industry, with a demonstrated understanding of the insurance value chain from underwriting through claims and fluency in core concepts, terminology, and reporting metrics.
  • Strong experience designing, building, and publishing dashboards and reports in Sigma, Power BI, or equivalent BI platforms, including data modeling for self-service consumption.
  • Solid experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred) and transformation tools such as dbt.
  • Proficiency in SQL; working knowledge of Python or similar scripting languages is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, ELT processes, and modern data architectures such as medallion or lakehouse designs.
  • Experience building or migrating to a modern data platform, for example transitioning from a legacy data warehouse to Snowflake/medallion architecture, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of data integration methods (APIs, flat files, semi-structured data) and cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.
