Job Description

The US Green Building Council supports certification operations through GBCI, and this remote role focuses on turning operational and financial data into actionable business intelligence. As a Data Analytics Engineer for GBCI Certification, you will build data infrastructure and decision-support solutions that connect data to organizational decisions.

Working under the direction of the GBCI Director of Certification Operations, you will partner with the USGBC Data and Finance teams to support certification operations and the information systems that drive them.

Responsibilities

  • Build expert-level understanding of GBCI Certification operations and design data infrastructure solutions to strengthen monitoring and analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams to align data engineering work with GBCI Certification and organizational goals.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines for data integration, data quality improvements, and governance.
  • Contribute to cross-department projects to support robust data infrastructure for GBCI Certification and process optimization.
  • Share project progress with stakeholders and create supporting resources such as factsheets and presentations.
  • Support LEED evolution by connecting data infrastructure with reporting frameworks including GRESB and SASB.
  • Improve business intelligence by designing decision-support systems integrated with GBCI’s data warehouse.
  • Define, build, and automate business processes through data solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Support business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting through data infrastructure that enhances reporting capabilities.
  • Manage data quality assurance and serve as a data steward for the GBCI certification team, ensuring accuracy, integrity, clarity, and consistency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, database administration, data visualization, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in Business, Data/Computer Science, or another related analytic or information technology discipline.
  • Experience with SQL databases required.
  • Experience with Spotfire, Power BI, and/or other data visualization platforms.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
  • Experience with Power Automate.
  • Experience with Excel VBA.
  • Experience with Asana.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; Python programming experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to the USGBC and GBCI mission.
  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma and PMP or other project management methodologies is preferred.
  • Strong personal responsibility and accountability, with a high-quality work ethic.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • LEED Green Associate or Sustainability Excellence Associate required (or within one year of hire).

Compensation: Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary based on internal equity, relevant experience, qualifications, and employment status. Salary negotiations will not extend beyond the top of the internal salary range. Listed salary range: USD 80,000 - 95,000 per year.

Logistics

  • Location: Fully remote in the United States
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM in a US time zone
  • Travel: Less than 5%
