Data and Applied AI Engineer

Apple Services Engineering (ASE) is looking for a Data and Applied AI Engineer to help build distributed, large-scale data processing systems, frameworks, and platforms. The role works closely with Apple TV and Video teams to design and deliver a data platform for analytics, including LLM-powered applications and intelligent agents.

This position is based in Seattle, WA and is an onsite role. The salary range is USD 142,300 to 263,300 per year, with a minimum of 3 years of experience required.

What you’ll do

• Partner with Apple teams to design and implement data solutions aligned to business needs.
• Design and build the data platform that supports data analytics and delivers impactful solutions for Apple TV and Sports products.
• Work on a small team developing large-scale data pipelines and backend services using microservices and big data technologies.
• Iterate quickly across all stages of the data pipelines.

What you bring

• 3+ years of programming experience in Java or Scala.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical discipline, plus experience with large-scale distributed data processing technologies and developing AI agents.
• Experience working with big data and distributed systems.
• Experience developing microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience working with LLMs and developing AI agents, including designing and building LLM-powered applications and intelligent agents at scale.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including algorithms and data structures.
• Self-directed and self-motivated approach, including the ability to create architecture and design documents.
• Ability to capture cross-functional requirements and translate them into practical engineering tasks.
• Strong AI, engineering, and communication skills, along with a focus on quality and an ability to understand complex systems.
