Data Engineer position at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, based in Darien, IL with hybrid work options.

Architect, develop, and sustain scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data into a centralized data warehouse.
Ingest data from APIs and SaaS platforms, building automated ingestion workflows with controls for authentication, pagination, rate limiting, and incremental loads.
Implement and tune ELT processes in SQL Server to maximize performance, reliability, and scalability.
Create and maintain data models using star and snowflake schemas to support reporting and analytics.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into practical data solutions.
Establish data quality by implementing automated validation checks and resolving pipeline issues.
Document data systems and processes, support governance standards, enable BI integration (Power BI), and promote self-service analytics.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 3 years of data engineering or ELT experience.
Proficiency with SQL Server for ELT and data transformation, plus experience with BI tools like Power BI and data warehousing best practices.
Advanced knowledge of data modeling (star and snowflake schemas) and data architectures, including data lakes and lakehouse environments.
Ability to design, optimize, and scale data pipelines for performance and reliability.
Proficiency in Python or similar for data manipulation and automation, with familiarity with API standards such as REST and OAuth for secure integration.
Experience implementing automated data pipeline testing, including validation, quality checks, and regression testing.
Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
