Job Description

Brooksource is seeking a Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines and analytics infrastructure, collaborating with analysts to translate data needs into practical solutions. This remote role focuses on cloud-based tooling and business intelligence, offering mentorship to someone early in their data engineering career as they grow within a supportive team environment. The position emphasizes hands-on work and cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable data workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and workflows
  • Develop data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes
  • Manage and document data schemas and metadata
  • Partner with analysts and business users to translate data needs into technical solutions
  • Run data quality checks and troubleshoot pipeline issues
  • Automate manual data processes to improve efficiency
  • Work hands-on with cloud-based data tools and platforms (Azure)
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and best practices
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies with the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in a data engineering or analytics support role
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
  • Working knowledge of Python for data processing
  • Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Collaborative mindset with a desire to learn from senior team members in a mentorship-driven environment
