Job Description

Theradex Oncology offers a data engineering role designed to support cancer research through robust data integration and dependable database management. This onsite position in Princeton, NJ provides a salary of USD 130,000 to 160,000 per year and a benefits package that supports career growth and work-life balance. The role calls for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database instances across development, testing, and production, including on‑premises and AWS cloud environments.
  • Perform upgrades, patching, and migrations to keep systems current and secure.
  • Monitor performance, resolve bottlenecks proactively, implement security measures, design backup and recovery strategies, and troubleshoot issues for application teams.
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting while staying current with database technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in planning and executing migrations from on‑premises environments to AWS RDS for Oracle.
  • Design, develop, and implement ETL processes to extract data from diverse sources, transform it to meet business requirements, and load into target systems such as data warehouses or data lakes.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines using ETL tools and scripts (for example Talend, SQL Scripts, Power Automate).
  • Optimize ETL processes for performance and scalability.
  • Conduct data profiling and quality analysis to ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and data scientists to translate data needs into technical specifications.
  • Implement data governance and data quality rules within ETL workflows.
  • Create and maintain system architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, integration diagrams, technical design documentation, source-to-target mappings, and data lineage artifacts to support platforms and integrations.
  • Ensure solutions align with SDLC, validation, change management, security, governance, and quality standards, maintaining audit-ready documentation and traceability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reduce technical debt, simplify integrations, and refine data architecture across enterprise systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • AWS certification preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or Data Engineer with ETL tools such as Talend, SQL Scripts, Power Automate, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, administration, and performance tuning, paired with expertise in ETL methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Shell scripting and Python.
  • Experience with cloud database technologies, preferably AWS RDS.
  • Background in cloud migrations, application modernization, and legacy decommissioning initiatives.
  • Solid grasp of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Prior experience in a CRO, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated environment is preferred.
