Job Description

The Data Engineer at South Texas Radiology Group, P.A. collects, manages, and converts data into information that business teams and analysts can access. This onsite role in San Antonio supports enterprise reporting, data integrity reviews, BI tool deployment, and the creation of centralized data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow STRG Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • Gather information for moderately complex processes, analyze data and trends, and identify root causes.
  • Build and maintain centralized data store infrastructure in the form of a data warehouse, selecting platform(s) for each component.
  • Import data from various agency EHRs and web-based sources using ELT/ETL best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal managers and external partners to set up data pipelines to the data warehouse for reporting and other business functions.
  • Ensure data integrity for records across data sources, including integrated information systems.
  • Work with the President on reporting needs related to physician productivity and other measurables, and support the Vice President as needed for physician scheduling and reporting needs.
  • Support enterprise report creation using warehouse data, including the creation of a data dictionary.
  • Maintain a data normalization strategy for new warehouse data and create and maintain a semantic layer for report KPIs and business metrics.
  • Support data mining and analytical capability to assist decision making and corporate strategy, including developing and maintaining a data management strategy for data acquisition and archive recovery.
  • Assist business teams with interaction with the data warehouse and/or data sources.
  • Maintain best practices for CI/CD to deliver accurate, accessible business data, including transparency of development processes using Agile project management principles.
  • Review and audit reports, data sources, and data streams for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and deploy BI tools for use by company teams.
  • Support departmental initiatives as requested.
  • Assist with alerting and educating staff on EHR changes.
  • Assist with system administrative setup as requested.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient protected health information per STRG procedures and HIPAA Privacy, Security, HITECH, and Transactions and Code Sets regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask multiple priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Excel required.
  • Knowledge of analytical and BI tools, including MS Excel, Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Strong programming skills: Python, SQL, shell/bash, plus expertise in database technologies, ELT/ETL processes, REST APIs, data warehousing, and workflow management tools.
  • Experience querying and maintaining relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres) and using version controlling (GitHub).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies, cloud development platforms such as GCP, and cloud-native applications.
  • Cursory understanding of healthcare terminology, including CPT, RVU, and charge terminology.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle systems and mapping logic within billing tables.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including requirement gathering/documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives.

Work Schedule and Attendance Expectations

Maintaining and satisfying minimum attendance requirements is an essential function of this position, including working all full-time regular hours as established for this position and scheduled or emergency overtime. Full-time regular hours are Monday through Friday, with after-hours or weekends as required. All employees in this job classification are required to satisfy this requirement. This job classification does not include “light duty” work or allow unpredictable or unrestricted absences.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology. Experience in lieu of formal education may be substituted.
