Job Description
Data Engineer - AI and Analytics at CVS Health in Buffalo Grove, IL, onsite, focused on designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and data products to support healthcare decision-making and consumer touchpoints in a cloud-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to assemble large, complex datasets across CVS lines of business.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to create tools that deliver actionable insights and integrate them with consumer touchpoints.
- Utilize modern tools to securely store, process, transform, and enrich terabyte to petabyte scale healthcare data.
- Contribute to delivering industry-leading data products and software with a customer-first, collaborative mindset.
- Collaborate with diverse teams in an agile environment to provide innovative data solutions for business challenges.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- At least 1 year of Python development experience.
- At least 1 year working with data warehouses, including data modeling, technical architectures, and related infrastructure components.
- At least 1 year building high-volume ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- At least 1 year designing and implementing data engineering solutions in cloud environments, preferably GCP; AWS or Azure are acceptable alternatives.
- At least 1 year using reporting and analytics tools.
- At least 1 year focusing on query optimization, data structures, transformations, metadata, dependencies, and workload management.
- At least 1 year working with big data and cloud architectures.
- Experience building agentic AI solutions.
- Experience solving complex systems and challenging analytical problems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within and across teams.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and other DevOps best practices.
- Experience creating Bash shell scripts and using UNIX utilities and commands.
- Understanding of software development methodologies including waterfall and agile.
- Ability to leverage multiple tools and programming languages to analyze and integrate data from disparate sources.
- Knowledge of API development.
- Google Professional Data Engineer Certification.
- Knowledge of microservices and SOA.
- Formal SAFe and/or agile experience.
- Previous healthcare experience and domain knowledge.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is $79,310.00 - $158,620.00 per year. This range represents the base salary for positions within this job grade and may vary by experience, education, geography, and other factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to base pay.
