Data Engineer, Analytics (Technical Leadership)

Compensation ranges from USD 210,000 to 281,000 per year, with eligibility for a bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. This onsite role is based in San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the data foundation and analytics vision to accelerate cross platform components for Instagram, and implement a plan to realize that vision.
• Own the data architecture for multiple large scale projects, evaluating design choices against operational costs and benefits.
• Develop and contribute to frameworks that improve how data is logged, collaborating with data infrastructure to triage and resolve issues.
• Establish cross functional partnerships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver accordingly.
• Set and manage service level agreements for data sets within ownership areas.
• Define and apply a security model aligned with privacy requirements, ensure safeguards, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes in owned domains.
• Design, build, and deploy sophisticated data models and visualizations that support use cases across multiple products or domains.
• Address complex data integration challenges using optimal ETL patterns and techniques, sourcing from structured and unstructured data.
• Contribute to owning existing production processes and optimize code with advanced algorithms.
• Improve pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline the development of data artifacts.
• Influence product and cross functional teams to identify data opportunities that drive impact.
• Mentor teammates through constructive feedback and collaborative coaching.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in the data warehouse space.
• 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining custom ETL processes.
• 10+ years of experience with object oriented programming languages.
• 10+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• 10+ years of experience authoring SQL statements.
• Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
• Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.
