Data Engineer II
Job Description
Based in Austin, Texas, this on-site Data Engineer II role supports Amazon.com Services LLC's global operations by building scalable data platforms. You will design and maintain production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and ML-ready data infrastructure to enable AI-driven operational insights, collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders on GenAI initiatives across worldwide operations. The position offers a salary range of USD 132,100 to 178,800 per year.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and sustain production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data infrastructure to support operational intelligence for OTS.
- Develop feature engineering workflows and ML-ready data pipelines that enable Data Science experimentation and production model serving.
- Contribute to data governance and quality standards across analytical and ML data products.
- Assist in implementing GenAI solutions for automated reporting, diagnostics, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Build and maintain semantic layers and dashboard data models that inform worldwide operations decision-making.
- Collaborate with Program Managers, BI teams, ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and operational stakeholders to prioritize work aligned with OTS business goals.
- Follow and contribute to best practices for data engineering, including code reviews, testing, monitoring, and documentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- 3+ years developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes
- 1+ years developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL and Python scripting
- Experience in software development, or in data infrastructures such as relational analytic DBMS, Elastic-Search, and Big Data EMR/EC2/Glue/Lambda
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related fields
