Data Engineer II
Job Description
Data Engineer II on the AWS AMPS team in Seattle, WA (onsite) designs, builds, and optimizes data pipelines and infrastructure to enable analytics and ML across the AWS Marketplace; compensation ranges from USD 132,100 to 178,800 per year and a Master’s degree is preferred with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced data pipelines and BI platforms.
- Manage AWS resources such as EC2, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda, and related services.
- Deliver robust data architecture and pipelines to support business analysts, data scientists, and customer reporting needs.
- Collaborate with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
- Improve reporting and analysis processes, automating self-service support for customers.
- Partner with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists and BI Engineers to plan and execute high priority data initiatives for internal stakeholders and AWS customers.
- Build automated, fault-tolerant and scalable data solutions using Spark, EMR, Python, Redshift, Glue and S3.
- Think creatively about data needs and solutions to address future requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and refine strategy, architecture, tooling and codebase to maximize performance, scalability and availability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Go, PowerShell, or Ruby.
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
- 3+ years of experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR, Storm, or Samza.

About the Team
We are the Data Engineering team in AMPS, powering analytics for the AWS Marketplace Platform. Our data serves external Marketplace sellers and over 3,000 internal Finance, Sales, and Partner stakeholders. We are building a unified Canonical Data Model on Redshift and Data Lake, pursuing greenfield data engineering at scale: designing ETL frameworks, migrating billions of rows, and treating data quality and security as first-class concerns. We work across Redshift, Airflow, Glue, S3, and CDK.
