Job Description

CACI is seeking a mid-level Data Engineer with Power BI expertise to design and sustain business intelligence tools and data pipelines for the STF program, delivering insights into the health of science and technology initiatives. This remote role requires residency in the Washington DC metro area and is anchored in Alexandria, VA. The position offers a salary range of $86,600 to $181,800 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus at least five years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select the optimal mix of technologies for the infrastructure dashboard data platform, including databases, processing frameworks, and orchestration tools.
  • Establish scalable data storage solutions to support long term growth.
  • Ingest live data from multi-domain sources via API or other suitable mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to understand RDT&E data being ingested and implement modeling controls for data abnormalities and structural differences.
  • Develop a robust data pipeline to load and transform data into a STF-ready model, balancing short and long term data goals.
  • Create and enforce data governance policies, including data quality standards, data lineage tracking, and metadata management, and communicate these policies to data analysts and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and optimize database and data model performance and security; conduct periodic tests of pipeline health and data validity.
  • Work with data stakeholders and the data analyst team to ensure background data and architecture meet the needs of requested visualizations and analyses.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for data architecture, data models, pipeline jobs, and related processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in database and dashboard development.
  • Strong experience with databases, data processing frameworks, and orchestration tools.
  • Proficiency in API integration and data ingestion from various sources.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerBI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
