Data Engineer, WW Ops Finance S&A
Job Description
Amazon.com Services LLC invites a Data Engineer to join the WW Ops Finance Standardization & Automation team onsite in Bellevue, Washington. This role focuses on building scalable data infrastructure, developing ETL pipelines, and delivering analytics platforms that empower Operations Finance customers as well as internal finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain sophisticated data solutions and ETL pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL, and AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, MWAA, EMR, and Lambda.
- Develop robust data architectures and scalable pipelines to meet client reporting needs while supporting analytics infrastructure for internal finance customers.
- Collaborate with technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources, ensuring data quality and balancing design trade offs.
- Work with business users, developers, and BI engineers to advance data architecture initiatives and next generation financial solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning, while refining reporting processes and enabling self service automation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive innovation, scale existing solutions, and create new ones based on stakeholder needs.
- Troubleshoot operational issues through thorough root cause analysis to maintain high availability and reliability of systems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proficiency in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
- Knowledge of distributed systems as they relate to data storage and computing.

About the Team
The Operations Finance data ecosystem underpins global data management solutions and scalable capabilities to support more than 10 data producer teams and 2,500 finance customers. The role collaborates with BIE and DE colleagues across the organization to identify critical customer pain points and help design, implement, and advance the data journey. As AI capabilities expand, this position will explore new mechanisms to integrate AI driven workflows for both builders and customer communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles/permissions.
- Experience with non-relational databases or data stores including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, or column-family stores.
- Record of building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems.
