Data Scientist 1

Auto Club Services LLC is hiring a Data Scientist in a hybrid role that lets you use data to support business decisions and measurable improvements. In this position, you will work as an internal business consultant, helping optimize operations by reducing costs and errors and improving outcomes for members. You will bring insights to stakeholders through clear analysis, visualization, and collaboration.

Hybrid work setup: The role is based in Independence, OH 44131. You must reside within a 100-mile radius of the Independence OH office and be available to work on-site 3 days per week on a regular basis. You will also be available 2–3 times per month for team meetings and collaboration days.

What you’ll do

• Address business problems from stakeholders by pulling, analyzing, and interpreting data (for example: reducing cycle times).
• Retrieve data from SQL databases, then analyze and interpret it using Python, R, or other tools.
• Identify patterns and trends and assess their statistical significance relative to the problem.
• Use Tableau to create data visualizations that support stakeholder understanding.
• After analysis, collaborate with a data engineer to present findings, then confirm, refute, or acknowledge a hypothesis.
• Explain how results can be implemented and how analyses may evolve into future work.

What you bring

• A strong foundation in statistics and data analysis, including experience describing a project where you pulled data, analyzed it, identified trends or patterns, determined significance, and delivered recommendations.
• SQL proficiency for extracting data.
• Python or R proficiency for curating and analyzing data (Python, R, and even Excel are used).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay flexible when pivoting, explaining changes, or addressing delays with stakeholders and teams.
• Experience with Agile teams, including participation in daily standups and completion of projects or stories during bimonthly sprints with frequent deployment deadlines.

Additional note: Although this is a hybrid role, the position is remote in terms of day-to-day location. You must be able to report to the Costa Mesa, CA office for regular collaboration days.
