Data Scientist
Job Description
Onsite in Seattle, WA, this Data Scientist role on Amazon Music's DISCO M&G team centers on building models and data products that power customer identity, acquisition, and retention. You will collaborate with Marketing, Growth, Product, and Engineering to design experiments and measure impact that informs business decisions. A Master’s degree and at least two years of data science experience are required, with a salary range of USD 136,000 to 212,800 per year.
Responsibilities
- Lead the research and development of models and science products that enable identity, acquisition, and retention strategies for Amazon Music.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Growth leadership to craft science-driven growth plans, including subscriber segmentation, lifecycle programs, and upsell initiatives.
- Develop predictive models such as propensity, uplift, and causal inference to support targeted marketing, quantify incremental impact, and automate deep-dive analyses into key metric variances.
- Work with product, engineering, and marketing teams to assess the impact of growth campaigns, features, and algorithmic interventions through rigorous experimentation.
- Interpret experiment results and deliver data-driven recommendations to optimize subscriber acquisition and retention outcomes.
- Partner with Senior Data Scientists and Product Managers to define, propose, and validate success and guardrail metrics for identity and growth programs.
- Educate marketing and growth teams on analytics, measurement frameworks, and experimentation best practices to foster evidence-based decision making.
Requirements
- At least two years of data science experience.
- Three or more years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.).
- Three or more years applying machine learning or statistical modeling techniques and evaluating their performance parameters.
- At least one year of experience with or evaluating AI systems.
- Experience translating theoretical models into practical, applied contexts.
- Education: Bachelor's degree with five or more years of relevant experience or Master's degree with two or more years of relevant experience.
