Job Description

J5 Consulting is seeking a Data Scientist to drive mission-critical initiatives through advanced analytics, machine learning, and natural language processing. This Virginia onsite role centers on analyzing complex data, building predictive models, and delivering data-driven solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced analytics, ML, and NLP to support mission-critical initiatives.
  • Examine large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights.
  • Develop predictive models to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Design pragmatic approaches for measuring performance and outcomes.
  • Define metrics, collect and analyze data, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses on personnel, intelligence, and performance metrics.
  • Aid in selecting or developing appropriate research methodologies.
  • Translate information into clear research findings accessible to customers and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven experience applying NLP tasks, including selecting suitable Python libraries, preprocessing, analysis, and assessing model performance.
  • Experience with Python NLP libraries such as Spacy, Gensim, or NLTK for document analysis or processing.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
  • Experience with the HuggingFace Transformers library and hub.
  • Experience building ML models for text classification and topic modeling in Python using scikit-learn or deep learning approaches.
  • Experience using encoder-decoder and generative language models for NLP tasks.
  • Experience communicating methodological choices and model results.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including common table expressions, set operations, aggregations, and nested subqueries.
  • Experience with version control systems such as GitHub and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
  • Experience leveraging GPUs for accelerated computing.
  • Ability to develop practical approaches for measuring performance and reporting results.
  • Ability to define data collection, analysis, and presentation processes for senior leadership.
  • Experience performing advanced statistical analyses on personnel, intelligence, and performance metrics.
  • Experience selecting or developing appropriate research methodologies.
  • Ability to convey research findings in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
  • Experience writing Python scripts to pull data from web-based APIs and relational databases.
  • Experience with cloud computing development and architecture.
  • Experience with front-end web development frameworks such as Flask.
  • Experience developing applications for semantic search.
  • Experience tuning large language models on custom data sets for specific use cases.
  • Proficiency with Tableau to produce visualizations and dashboards.

US Citizenship

This position requires US Citizenship. Verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements will be confirmed.

Security Clearance

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph is required.
  • Clearance verification will be completed prior to offer of employment to satisfy federal government client requirements.

Travel

The role is onsite in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Local travel or use of a personal vehicle may be required on an as-needed basis within the local performance area.
