Data Scientist
Job Description
Blu Omega is hiring a Data Scientist for an onsite role in Washington, DC supporting a federal financial data analysis program.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve, process, and analyze large-scale financial datasets, including Bank Secrecy Act data and related transaction information
- Perform entity resolution and data cleansing to maintain data quality and integrity across large datasets
- Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms using quantitative techniques such as:
- Statistical sampling
- Regression analysis
- Link analysis
- Geospatial analysis
- Social network analysis
- Data mining
- Query, filter, and visualize data using agency tools and platforms, including BSA Search and Transaction Grid Search
- Build custom datasets, queries, and code to support analytical workflows and reporting needs
- Communicate project progress, analytical findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
Requirements
- Experience working with large-scale financial data environments, including transactional data from SWIFT, CHIPS, and book transfer systems
- Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act data, including SARs, CTRs, and Form 8300 filings
- Proficiency with Python and Jupyter Notebook, plus R, NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn
- Strong foundation in statistical methods and data analysis techniques
- Ability to analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns and deliver actionable insights

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data mapping, cleansing, and data validation
- Understanding of international bank wire transfer formats, including SWIFT, CHIPS, and book transfer systems
- Experience communicating analytical results to senior leaders and stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
Compensation
- Salary Range: USD 120,000 - 180,000 per yearly
- Final compensation depends on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance
