Data Scientist
Job Description
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to design and conduct machine learning and data science experiments and apply AI capabilities to mission-critical applications across the space enterprise. This role is full-time and on-site, with locations including El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, or Colorado Springs, CO, and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Apply data science and AI knowledge across Aerospace enterprise capabilities, aligned to corporate workforce development and strategic focus areas.
- Develop and execute machine learning and data science experiments, including areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, time series analysis, and reinforcement learning.
- Evaluate technologies and data science models for suitability in scalable and resilient mission-critical applications.
- Collaborate with teams of various sizes to deliver features and products.
- Share written and verbal results with customer stakeholders.
- Support a culture of learning and progress with team members and others.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
- At least 2 years of industry experience in Data Science or Machine Learning.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
- Experience developing machine learning models and inference pipelines.
- Software development skills, including familiarity with machine learning and deep learning libraries in Python.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence, software engineering, and statistics.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US government, including US citizenship to obtain a security clearance.

Location and Compensation
- Location: El Segundo, CA (onsite). Additional on-site locations include Chantilly, VA, and Colorado Springs, CO.
- Salary: USD 95,200 to 142,800 per year.
- Employment type: Full-time on-site (with telework options as noted in benefits).
