Data Scientist

Leidos is hiring a Data Scientist based in Huntsville, AL for an onsite role supporting mission critical AI/ML work across system security, engineering, and defense. In this position, you will help design, build, deploy, and maintain AI/ML solutions, moving ideas from research into operational deployment while partnering with technical experts and customer liaisons.

This role focuses on turning data into actionable insights, including analyzing information to understand and address evolving cyber security threats. You will also contribute to product and technology direction, helping drive improvements that increase reliability and velocity as solutions mature.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data to support AI/ML solution development
• Research current and future cyber security threats targeting systems
• Support continuous improvement by advocating changes that enhance reliability and velocity
• Contribute to the technical direction of products and the technology stack
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and customer liaisons to define and develop solutions that address customer problems

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, plus 2 to 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience working full-time in an agile software engineering team environment
• Strong knowledge of Python
• Strong familiarity with Scikit Learn and Pytorch
• Experience conducting guided and exploratory data analysis on large datasets
• Experience developing AI/ML solutions
• Knowledge of AI/ML techniques including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning and their strengths and weaknesses
• Experience reviewing and evaluating academic publications for technical applications
• Strong written and presentation skills
• Must live in, or be willing to live, Huntsville, AL
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% each year as necessary (moderate travel to testing locations, typically CONUS)
• Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance, or meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top-Secret Clearance
